Brazillian landscape architect, Roberto Burle Marx brought modernist design to the outdoor spaces of Brazil. His work is seen at some of Brazil’s most famous places.
A true plant lover, Marx was one of the first people in Brazil to call for protection for the rainforests. Over 50 plants have been named in his honour.
“A plant, to a landscape artist, is not only a plant - rare, unusual, ordinary or doomed to disappearance - but it is also a colour, a shape, a volume or an arabesque in itself.” - Marx
